On the evening of 3 December 2025, he went out with his football teammates to celebrate the end of term. He left his accommodation around 20:30, had a few drinks, briefly stopped at The Hobbit pub around 23:00, and was walking home alone while sending Snapchat messages to friends when the fatal encounter occurred and got stabbed by a racist immigrant five times.
